Welcome to Book, Bean & Ice Cream, a busy, friendly and thriving independent bookshop nestled on the high street of Lancashire market town Kirkham. Within the shop you’ll find a thoughtfully curated selection of books, a range of beautiful gifts and cards for every occasion.
The shop is the passion of owner/proprietor Elaine Silverwood and her fabulous staff. Selling great coffee, homemade cakes and ice cream it is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.
Book, Bean & Ice Cream also arranges author events bringing many talented and bestselling authors into local schools to encourage children in their love of reading. Book signings at the shop are renowned for their popularity and are always a sell-out with children, families and customers who visit from far and wide. Our Book Shop
Our bookshop is a wonderful special place with a carefully curated selection of books. We encourage people to come in and browse our range of current titles, classics and best sellers. We have a fabulous range of children’s books which feature the much beloved books of our childhood alongside new up and coming authors. We also have a comprehensive selection of local interest books showcasing Blackpool, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Moors with maps and walking routes galore.
We stock Paperblank Journals, Diaries and a range of greetings cards for every occasion.
We also have a handy book ordering service whereby you can order the book you want to come to the shop free of charge. Our lovely staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful and are happy to spend time helping you find your next great read!

We have been privileged to work with some very talented and wonderful authors over the past 24 years! Elaine has worked tirelessly to bring authors, personalities, sportspeople and commentators into the shop for signing events. These have always been a sell-out and our small town of Kirkham has often been besieged by readers and fans (not to mention TV crews and journalists!)
Over the years Elaine has fostered and built upon strong relationships with schools in Lancashire, enabling young children and students to meet a wide and diverse range of authors, to hear about their journey from idea to publication and what inspires them.

Our friendly coffee shop
We take pride in our wonderful friendly coffee shop which sells great coffee, a range of hot drinks including speciality teas and warming hot chocolate. We also offer cold drinks such as iced coffees, frappuccinos and milkshakes (all made with delicious Wallings ice cream)
We are proud to offer a fabulous range of homemade cakes, with our toasted cheese scones a winner with both staff and customers alike. Our award winning Brownies are simply amazing with just the right amount of crisp outside and soft squidgy middle – perfect!
Come on in and enjoy our great atmosphere, relax with a hot drink or catch up with friends over a slice of cake. Our staff are wonderful and we pride ourselves on friendly service with a smile. We also offer a takeaway option for all our drinks and food for when time is short!
